Here at The Phoenix Remix, we have been sent some previews of shows heading to the Edinburgh Fringe. So over the next few weeks, we will be reviewing these so that you can keep an eye on them or potentially go and see them at the festival. The Phoenix remix will also be at the festival this year so we will be posting more reviews throughout August.
If there is one thing that is always dominant at the Fringe then it is the political type show, however this is something that you will not expect and is not your average show about Government.
Nerine Skinner has a problem – she cannot escape Liz Truss. No matter how hard she tries she cannot escape everyone thinking that she is Liz, even after she quit being the Prime Minister and there is only one main reason for it – she has absorbed the spirit of the MP. This show is an ‘exorcism’ to get rid of her once and for all.
This show may be themed on ‘politics’ but is much more then this and no matter what your political views are I think you will enjoy this show! It is fast paced, fun and purely enjoyable. Nerine is a powerful persona on stage, she is electric and engaging and creates a really exciting show with lots of characters and musical numbers.
The character and the impersonations throughout are fun, silly and enjoyable. There are some really fun highlights throughout including the audience participation, the fights between Liz and Nerine and an unforgettable song between Boris and Nadine Dorres.
This show is something that defines what Fringe shows can be – fun, one where even the audience feel like they are part of it and with a positive conclusion at the end. Put this on your watch list because it is highly entertaining and like I said, it may be about ‘politics’ but it is so much more then that and it is really about the huge talents of Nerine Skinner as an entertainer.
