Hello! Tell us about yourself?

I’m Edith, Romanian born, half Romanian, half Tatar (a nomadic tribe absorbed into the Mongol Empire), studies acting in Germany, lived there for 3 years, lived in London for 1 year then started commuting between London and Bucharest.

Actress, producer – because you have to – and newly writer

Also I have a vast waitress, dish cleaning, theatre & film production work and marketing experience.

Tell us all about your show!

10 year high school reunion. Lost dreams. Lost friends. Lost your shit when you reunited with the one. Things should have been better. But Life seems to have encountered a glitch. Where do you go from here?

Glitch is a reworked version of ‘Tea and Milk” which premiered at Edinburgh Fringe 2023.

How did you come up with the name of your show that you’re taking to the fringe?

In Romanian it’s called “Defect” which means ‘broken’/‘out of order’. Like you feel there’s something wrong with you. I thought “Glitch” works.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

Anything really. Last year I saw 27 shows from circus to clowning to magic to theatre to stand up.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe. And if you haven’t, how are you gearing up for it?

Yes, last year for the first time.

What I learned:

  1. Success means having 10 people at your show instead of 3 so all those dreams of ‘making it’ should vanish.
  2. It’s very playful, you should come and play around, present work in progress works, it doesn’t matter, you shouldn’t overthink it
  3. Press mostly comes to venues considered ‘good’.
  4. Flyering is top promotion tool, don’t get caught up in other stuff too much, only if you have huge budgets.
  5. It is like a drug, you will want to come back
