Hello! Tell us about yourself?
Hey there. 31. Virgo. Medium build. Looking for success.
Tell us all about your show!
Of course. It’s about how I experienced a meteoric rise of fame in my twenties and how I came plummeting back to the earth within a few years. It’s a theatre show. A musical that turns in on itself. I also have famous parents so I confront what that’s like to. Turns out it’s pretty amazing. So many opportunities. I wish everyone had famous parents.
How did you come up with the name of your show that you’re taking to the fringe?
It’s Nepotism and Haemorrhoids bashed together.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
Jordan Brookes : Fontanelle. He’s a real cheeky chappy. I met him once and he refused to talk to me. Real artist.
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe. And if you haven’t, how are you gearing up for it?
I haven’t. Everyone has told me how much of a marathon it is and I just think ‘Grow up. Suck it up’. This is what it’s all about isn’t it? A big cattle of creatives battling it out and for the attention economy. Uprooting your trauma for viewing pleasure. Come on. Let’s have it!!!!
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
I went as a punter last year and me and my girlfriend just got p***** from dawn to dusk. We ate like rabid dogs. We saw Keir Starmer scranning a hot dog near the underbelly tent. I thought ‘Good lad. Coming to enjoy the festival like one of us. Even if he had 10 security guards around him dressed like River Island Mannequins, I appreciated the look. The joy of Fringe was running from show to show. I had access to all the VIP bars though, that helped. Probably would’ve had a naff time without those passes.
What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?
VIP passes. Slide into my DM’s. I’ll handle.
Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?
All the food vendors. I had a buffalo chicken burger. Insane
Best thing about performing at the Fringe?
I don’t know yet but I imagine the career opportunities.
Top tips for travelling around the Fringe and getting to shows on time?
Give yourself time. Plan a bit. Doesn’t have to be crazy. My girlfriend likes planning things down to a tee so maybe ask her! She smashed it. Love you baby
What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?
Your spotlight CV printed out. Pictures of the old you. Scottish cash.
What’s the secret to successful flyering?
Oh damn. I have no idea. Please tell me!!
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
Instagram. @jakeroche !
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
Need. To. Recoup.
