Hello! Tell us about yourself?
I’m Charlotte Anne-Tilley, an actor-writer. This summer, I’m taking two shows to the Edinburgh Fringe, Serious Theatre from Serious People and Oh, Calm Down. In this Q&A, I’ll be chatting about ‘STFSP’.
Tell us all about your show!
It’s a character comedy that dives into the world of youth theatre with big egos, emotional outbursts, and a whole lot of DRAMA. Starring myself and Mabel Thomas, it’s going to be satirical, hyperactive and FUN.
How did you come up with the name for the show you’re taking to the fringe?
It’s about actors who take themselves too seriously and we wanted to make that very clear.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
All the character comedy we can get our hands on!
● My Last Two Brain Cells
● Rosalie Minnitt: Clementine
● The Sisters Fig
● Sorry (I Broke Your Arms and Legs)
● Virtuoso
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe?
Don’t live on Shincups and Super Noodles. It’s cheap but your body will punish you for it.
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
Wake up, yoga (optimistic and probably not going to happen), flyer for an hour (also optimistic), perform Serious Theatre from Serious People, make people laugh, perform Oh, Calm Down, make people cry, flyer some more… party.
What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?
SOBER.
Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?
Last year I lived on Shincups from the Edinburgh University shop by Pleasance Dome. But, as established, bad idea.
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
Performing the show 20+ times means you can experiment and try new things. If a moment doesn’t work—you can rework it every day until it does. That kind of thing isn’t usually possible with your average fringe theatre run.
Top tips for travelling around the Fringe and getting to shows on time?
Avoid the Royal Mile at all costs?!
What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?
● Throat sweets
● Crocs
● Kazoo
What’s the secret to successful flyering?
Do it in costume, with a bubble blowing machine and a massive speaker blasting Shania Twain.

We really tried.
