Hello! Tell us about yourself?
I am a standup comedian, writer and actress from the West Midlands, now living in London. I have been making online sketches for over 5 years, have amassed over 18 millions views, gained 25,000 followers and been nominated as Heat magazine’s ‘Content creator of the Year’.
Last year I made it to the Funny Women semi final as well as being shortlisted for the BBC New Comedy awards.
I have also recently appeared as a guest on high profile podcasts ‘Brett Goldsteins Films to be buried with’, Lou Sanders ‘Cuddle Club’, and Sentimental Garbage.
I am a regular on the London comedy circuit and have recently had sold out runs at the Women in Comedy Festival, Leicester Comedy Festival, Camden Fringe, Vault Festival and Brighton Fringe.
Tell us all about your show!
My show is a multimedia show about growing up in the 90s/00s. It’s fun, silly, and nostalgic. I really seem to be obsessed with this time period so I delve into the whys of that.
How did you come up with the name for the show you’re taking to the fringe?
It’s a phrase we all used to say growing up to summarise what we would probably wear to an event. I just found it quite funny.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
Rob Copland is sure to be a HOOT, and Katie Norris will be fun!
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe?
I have done a split bill before, and I have done a comedy showcase up there. The longest stint I have done is 2 weeks. The month feels quite daunting tbh. I think the best advice I have been given is try to have fun with it and try not to look at what everyone else is doing. My advice would be not to party EVERY night. I have done that before and performing with a hangover isn’t fun. I am going to be a very good girl this year, and get lots of rest…. Hopefully.
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
Like I mentioned I have burned the candle at both ends in the past so I spent alot of the day in bed watching Gilmore Girls on my laptop. This year I will try to get up, eat well, and go swimming.
What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?
Oh for sure go and see shows, go find some nice Edinburgh vintage shops (spent way too much last year), take it all in. But also rest and go and see some sights that are in fringe related for a bit of culture, and to stop the madness from taking over.
Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?
I like to trail around the city eating jacket potatoes. There is a jacket potato specific place near the station, it’s also near a shop called ‘Princess Diana Memorial Tartan’ which I think by the sounds of it sells tartan in memory of princess Diana. So if you find yourself near ‘Princess Diana Memorial Tartan’ just type Jacket Potato into google maps and I think it will come up. Sorry I can’t remember the name.
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
I am super excited to be doing my own show and showing people what I am about. I also always make a new friend which is nice. It’s nice to have friends.
Top tips for travelling around the Fringe and getting to shows on time?
I am not the best person to ask this. I will say google maps is your best friend.
What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?
A laptop to unwind and watch your shows on for a bit of normality (I am going to start watching Game of thrones on August 1st for something to occupy my mind in my down time). A raincoat for god’s sake, and an air fryer, just kidding (I wish).
What’s the secret to successful flyering?
Sex Sells. JOKE. Just being super friendly and maybe having a catch phrase you open with to get them interested.
If people want to find out more about you, where can they follow you on social media?
My handle on all of them is @loutaylortrash but like the classic millennial I am, I’m most active on instagram. Tiktok scares me.
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
They will laugh.
