Hello! Tell us about yourself?

I am a Norwegian Actor and improviser, and I have now created my first solo show.

It’s about birth. Other than that, I like late mornings, brown bread and the sounds of seagulls

.

Tell us all about your show!

Good luck, Cathrine Frost!tells my own story, my urge to have a child, and my encounter with the world after I became a mother. Blending humor and seriousness, I try to break down our view of what it means to be a mother, how we relate to the ordinary, existential act of being born, and how Socrates “forgot” to talk about it. And there will be dubstep and karate.

How did you come up with the name of your show that you’re taking to the fringe?

After giving birth, people would come to me and wish me “good luck”. It’s a phrase that we often turn to when someone is pregnant or has given birth in Norway.

I found the transition into motherhood extremely difficult. I did feel I needed a great deal of luck to be able to manage. I had very little knowledge and was, as so many new mothers, totally sleep deprived. It felt, for a while, that luck was all I had to hang on to.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

I have some good friends at The Showstoppers, so I always look forward to see them perform so brilliantly. I also want to catch Flo and Joan while I am there, because they are hilarious! “1 in a Chameleon” by Narie Foster seems very interesting. Oh, and Alfie Brown. And probably also a thousand more shows. I am really looking forward to filling up my cup with really great theatre and comedy.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

This is my first time as a performer, so I think I am the one needing some good tips.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

As I have never done this before as a performer, I have this really romantic picture in my head of all the things I will do and how much fun I am going to have while doing them.

I picture myself finding a perfect little breakfast place, where I will go every day and order the same things. The barista will learn my name, and I theirs, and we’ll share some coffee and stories. After that, I will go for a little run under a brilliant sunshine (there’s no rain in my picture!).

Then I’ll go do my daily show and after that see a dozen other shows, that I could tell my new friends at the breakfast place about the day after. Something like that.

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

Definitely my favourite breakfast place. I just have to find it first!

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

I am really looking forward to the jungle of the Fringe. My show has been a total sellout in Norway, but having to build up an audience from scratch at the world’s biggest performing arts festival is a great challenge and a great opportunity to connect with people. I hope that at the end of the run we’ll have a little crowd who love the show.

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?

My personal top three would be a bottle of water, mints for my throat and my running shoes.
