Hello! Tell us about yourself?

I’m Kristin, the director/producer of Recent Cutbacks. We’re a critically acclaimed comedy and theater company from NYC making our Fringe debut!

Tell us all about your show!

The show is called Hold On To Your Butts, in which two actors and a Foley artist perform a live, shot-for-shot parody of the greatest dinosaur film of all time. It’s wildly inventive tour-de-force of comedy, physical theatre and live Foley.

How did you come up with the name of your show that you’re taking to the fringe?

It’s a pretty recognizable line, and it seemed to capture the spirit of epic silliness that we’re going for with the show.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

Really excited to see some of the other offerings at Pleasance this year, including our neighbors Gwyneth Goes Skiing.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

I personally attended the Fringe back in 2019 with a show I was directing, but only for two weeks. I would recommend planning ahead and treating it like a marathon, not a sprint. There’s so much to do and see that you’ll never be bored, just make time to rest and recuperate, too.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

Wake up, coffee and breakfast. Tackle emails/admin for a couple hours. Strap on a good pair of shoes and hit the streets from some flyering. Then head over to the show! Afterwards, check out other shows and soak up the atmosphere of the festival. Maybe grab a drink with a fellow friend in from NYC. Then go to bed at a reasonable hour to wake up and do it all again!

What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?

See as many shows as possible, from all parts of the world and in all genres and mediums. Get your mind blown by something you didn’t expect.

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

Being a part of a global community of artists. Getting your reps in (in terms of doing the show over and over again and really learning it from the inside out in front of an audience).

Top tips for travelling around the Fringe and getting to shows on time?

Leave extra time in case you get lost!

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?

Water bottle, a good bag, and extra socks!

what’s the secret to successful flyering?

Be friendly and enthusiastic without being pushy! If you’re scared, they’ll be scared, too.

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

Hilarious, imaginative, dinosaurs.
