Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2024

The Travel Book – Fringe Special – Hacks To Use This Summer….

With it being Edinburgh Fringe month on the Phoenix Remix, I thought it would be fun to write a few travel articles about the festival and what I have learnt over the years I have visited that there are some interesting topics to discuss.

This Week – Hacks To Use This Summer….

This week we are talking hacks – now, some of these are incredibly obvious things but I think it is always fun to talk about everything because sometimes the most simplest thing is the one object we may forget about. So lets dive in.

Take a Bottle of drink

This will be the best thing to do when you visit the Edinburgh Fringe is to take a bottle of drink with you as it will always come in handy. Having a sugar based drink may be helpful to give you back the energy you may lose from running across Edinburgh or even going to some of the venues as they can be really hot. There are lots of places you can refill you bottle in the city, I recommend the museum as there is never really a queue and it is usually quiet.

Take a Fan with you

A fan will be your best friend when you are visiting the festival because some venues are boiling and the Scottish weather can be incredibly unpredictable. Also if you are travelling fast from venue to venue you will get warm and toasty and having a fan is a quick way to help cool down.

Take Flyers you are given

Firstly it is hard to not take leaflets as you want to be polite to the people that are hard working helping to promote shows. However they can come in handy – they can introduce you to shows you may not of heard of, they can be great little mementos that you can scrap book or you can use as an improvised fan if you need one.

Deodorant

Small sweaty rooms, walking around a lot and maybe walking around can leave you feeling sticky and horrible. I know I keep going on about heat but hey, just because this is Scotland, trust me, it can get warm really easy when you are travelling the festival.

Snacks

No matter how much you plan, you will never have enough time to go to the shops in between shows as it is veryyyy easy to not realise there is not a gap between getting to venues. So always have a few snacks in your bag – trust me they have saved my life a few times, even when you think you have enough time, you never do.
