Tell us about:
Your latest single you have released:
I wanted ‘BITE’ to be super raw and angry. I think it’s a track I was trying to write for a while but it never felt like the right time. I finally decided that I needed to release BITE because I was being led down the wrong path concerning my musical identity. This track for me is symbolic of me putting my foot down and voicing my opinions.
Your favourite lyric in this song:
“You bit off more than you can chew, I’ll sit back while you’re choking” – It speaks for itself really. In my experience, I’ve noticed a lot of people in the industry unfortunately trying to shape artists into something that they aren’t. A lot of the times they’ve bit off more than they can chew because artists know exactly what they want and can’t be told what to do. Rightfully so!
Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:
My favourite track that I’ve created isn’t actually released yet! but it is on the EP so it’ll be out very soon.
Your favourite song to play live:
Probably a track called ‘The End’. It’s very high energy and a lot of fun to play live.
The song that was the longest to write and why?
I had the instrumental for ‘NEED’ for a while but I felt like no lyrics or vocal melody was really fitting. I was on a drive and was listening to the instrumental over and over again until something clicked and I recorded my ideas immediately as soon as I got back home.
Your most emotional track:
Probably ‘Control’, which isn’t released yet but is also on the EP so will be out very soon. It’s about feeling like you have no control in your life and so you’re desperate to find some, even if it’s self-destructive.
Dream collaboration:
There’s so many artists I would love to work with! Maybe Just Mustard or Sir Chloe. Two artists I’m very inspired by.
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
I’m usually very nervous before a show, as I’m backstage I’m pacing back and forth trying to make sure I remember all the words and chord progressions but as soon as I walk onto stage all of that melts away. It’s quite strange how it works honestly.
The hardest track to play live:
My song ‘Other Stuff’ was quite difficult to play because there were so many little riffs to play whilst singing at the same time. Took us a while in the rehearsal room to figure it out!
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
I take like ten different perfumes with me when we travel for gigs. Smelling good is crucial to me. I also bring loads of snacks because I’m quite a picky eater and I’m not sure if the stores we stop at are going to have the snacks I like!
Describe your fans in three words:
Friendly, intelligent and creative. Every single person I’ve met through my music has been so lovely and supportive.
A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:
‘This is the day’ by The The. It’s my favourite song of all time and I wish I had written it. It’s just such a classic.
What we can look forward to from your band this year
A lot of exciting gigs to be announced! and also the release of the EP ‘Devour’ later in the year!
