Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Atomic Agent

Tell us about:

Your favourite lyric in this song:

Depends on the day, but today I’ll say “Irene”. It’s about someone close to you taking the final solution, and since suicides are sadly very common in Finland, I know many who have taken their own lives, tried that or have been thinking about that. My personal zest for life is so strong, it is hard for me to understand that mindset at all.

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

Today I’ll go with Irene. Good groove, strong melodies and vocal lines, and a powerful topic.

Your favourite song to play live:

To be honest, Atomic Agent is in the process of forming a full line-up and rehearsing a live set, but I like Secret Society. For now I’ve had to play the lead guitar on it, and it a bit intense but rewarding to play. Singing-wise I’d go for Irene, it is so powerful.

The song that was the longest to write and why?

I don’t think there are songs like that on the album, they all came out pretty easily. But those that have required a lot more work, are still more or less in the process. Some song ideas have been hatched for 5-6 years and they are still waiting for finishing.

Your most emotional track:

Again, I’d go with Irene, or No Higher Force. The latter one is about the strong feeling of loving someone.

Dream collaboration:

Mirel Wagner, a Finnish singer-songwriter, but I’d love a duet with Nick Cave too.

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

A bit excited, but disciplined. Quite calm, but a bit of nervousness gives a better edge onstage. To have to go there like you own that space for that moment, and show it.

The hardest track to play live:

Kiss the Sky might be, but no idea yet. It requires a lot from the backing vocals.

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

Credit card.

Describe your fans in three words:

The best fans ever.

A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:

The Show Must Go On by Queen.

What we can look forward to from your band this year:

Single and video releases, an EP and possibly the second album. Hopefully the first gigs too.
