Hello! Tell us about your act ?

A man trying to use logic to escape his emotions, with mixed success.

How did you come up with the name of your show that you are taking to the Brighton fringe?

Well, it would kind of spoil the show to explain where the show name came from, but I certainly enjoy that telling a stranger to trust you puts them slightly on edge.

Tell us a little bit about your style of show?

Loads of feelings, loads of jokes, some shouting, some kind of point, no refunds.

What can people expect from your Brighton Fringe performance?

Some risks to be taken! Some lives to be changed! For me to plug my social media!

My new show is about risks, so I will be talking about my relationship to risk, how that has affected my relationships generally and I’ll be asking you to take some risks. This show is meant to provide some comfort to the traumatised, I think.

How are the rehearsals going?

I have something of a unique process, I live with three dogs and I put them all on the sofa and perform the show entirely to them, their indifference hurts me so much I break down and as I weep they lick salty tears from my face. So, well.

Have you done the fringe before? What have been some of your favourite shows to date and why?

I’ve done the fringe a few times, hard to pick specific shows but I find Brighton audiences to be very engaged and receptive.

What are your three favourite things about Brighton?

The people, the shops, the decay.

Leafleting and promotion through the streets of Brighton is a huge part of the festival – what are your tips for flyering?

If you can quickly make someone laugh then they’ll take a flyer, but never push your luck. No one ever laughed as a result of being pestered.

Tell us about your average day on a festival show run?

Get the train from London, try to write in a coffee shop, stress, do a load of smack, do the show, relax, get chips, get on the train.

Performing by the sea as well, that surely makes the fringe all that much more fun?

No, I hate the sea, I hate beaches. When I stare into the sea for too long a kind of profound madness grips me, I’m fully aware of how insignificant the human race is, and it’s hard to answer emails in that mindset.

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

Baroness Bloomfield of Hinton Waldrist
