Forgotten Songs! – This Week – Friday

There are so many songs that are out there everywhere then all of a sudden they disappear and you only hear from them very rarely that they can create a sense of nostalgic for you, the listener. So roll up and welcome to Forgotten Songs where we celebrate these forgotten wonders.

Friday – Rebecca Black

It’s nearly the weekend, it is a certain day and this song has been on the cards for a very long time but I have been avoiding it so I don’t get the track stuck in my head but the time has come so here we go, delving down the rabbit hole on a Friday.

Friday was a single that was released by Rebecca Black on the 14th March 2011. The song was written and produced by Clarence Jey and Patrice Wilson and released under the record label of ARK Music Factory.

The song was released on iTunes and here was also a music video that accompanied the release that was put onto YouTube and that is one of the reasons that the track became viral. Some people have criticised the video and said that it is one of the worst videos ‘ever made’.

Even though the track was welcomed with negative reviews it went to number 1 in the US Heatseekers Songs Billboard charts and became certified Gold selling over 500,000 copies. In the United Kingdom the song went into the charts at position 60.

I personally was never a fan of this song but once you hear it, the chorus is very hard to get out of your head.
