If you are looking for a fish and chip restaurant that is outstanding then this is a location you need to check out the next time you are in Glasgow. It is so good that after I had visited I saw an article that said Hollywood actor Gerald Butler had even been to it.

Old Salty’s is a gastro fish and chips shop which is also an Italian restaurant – it may sound bizarre but the food is amazing. It has even won Nation Fish and Chip shop Restaurant of the Year award in 2021.

It is located on Byres Road in Glasgow which is in Hillhead, a short Metro ride and bus journey away from Merchant city.

Due to the fact the restaurant is both a chip shop and Italian – it means that there is a lot of food on offer which is all cooked fresh! You can get all of what’s on offer at a fish and chip shop as well as Italian classics such as Penne Arrabbiata, Baked Lasagne, Spaghettis Puttanesca, Chicken Milanese and Penne Salsiccia to name a few.

This was one of the best fish and chips that I have had since living in Scotland as it was so tasty and absolutely delicious. It is a place you must give a visit the next time you are in the area of Glasgow.
