The one thing I love about music is that everyone has their own story to tell – the musician, the lyrics, the way the fans decipher them and also the way a song can also create a memory or a meaning to someone. That is what this new article is all about. Each fortnight, we will take a look at a different song and I will take you as a trip down memory lane as to what it means to me. Welcome to Music Memories.
Track: Trouble
Artist: P!nk
Original Release Date: 2003
This is a short but sweet one this week but it is one that I only remembered the other day and whilst it is a little memory I thought it was important to include it in music memories at is silly but still makes me cringe even when I think of it now.
When you are a teenager at school, there are always people that you have a crush on – some are serious and change your life at that age and others are silly little ones that pass you by as a little thing and you get over it – this is one of those stories more then the first type.
I cannot remember the exact year when this was but I am pretty certain that it was around the time that this song came out – but I do remember the exact location, it was in an English class between lessons on one of the breaks. I had a little crush on one of the guys in my year – nothing serious but just a bit of a silly one as we had a very flirty friendship. I still cared what he thought about me though because at the time even the silly crushes mean something.
I can’t remember what flared it but I started to sing Trouble by Pink at the top of my voice deliberately out of tune taking the mick out of it. As soon as I started singing my crush at time came through the door and instantly started to laugh and take the mickey out of me – I felt so embarrassed. It is such a silly memory but I heard this song the other day and it brought it all back.
