Sometimes I end up discovering something by accident and that is what happened with today’s location. I had some time to spare one day when I arrived at Luton Airport, so I jumped on the train and got off at St Alban’s and went exploring. I knew they had a cathedral but did not expect to find something so grand and amazing.
St Albans Cathedral is located in Sumpter Yard and is one of the oldest sites in the United Kingdom for continuous Christian worship. Even if you are not religious, it is worth a visit for its phenomenal architecture.
The Cathedral was built in the Norman times and has a rich history which in incredibly in depth and you can explore for yourself online or in books.
As wells as being the home to religious events, there are many things that you can do as a tourist and if you search their website you will see a variety of tours that are on offer around the grounds. I would also recommend just walking around it as the site is incredible impressive.
The one thing that I loved about St Albans Cathedral was just how grand it is – when you initially walk up to it the site takes your breath away as it is so striking. No matter what you do in St Alban’s make sure that you give this place a visit.
