Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.
TURTLE CREME PIE
Today we are heading to the frozen section of the American supermarket to take a look at a dessert that you may find indulgent and is created by a company called Edwards.
Edwards was founded in the 1950’s and was a small retail shop in Atlanta, Georgia. Since then they have grown, leading to their pies being produced for retail shops all over America and they still have a ‘dessert kitchen’ which you can visit in Minneapolis.
One of the frozen pies that you can purchase is Turtle Creme Pie filled with pecans, chocolate chunks, caramel creme, whipped cream and finished off with a chocolate drizzle. It is one of those pies that you have to take out of the freezer before eating.
The pie can be purchased for $7.59 and contains 8 servings per pie. Each slice of the pie contains 330 calories and 18 grams of fat.
There are so many positive reviews about this pie online with members of the public praising the taste and the mix of pecans with caramel.
