Break Your Heart – Taio Cruz

Today we are heading back to the early 2010’s to take a look at a dance track by a musician who was very popular at the time.

Break Your Heart was released by the British musician Taio Cruz on the 15th September 2009. It was written by the musician and Fraser T Smith and was released under the record labels of Island and Mercury. It was the first single to be released off of Taio’s second album Rockstarr.

The single was originally written for the pop star Cheryl Cole – however he apparently never heard back from her or her agents and so he edited the lyrics so that it could be sung by a man. It was only after he released the song that he apparently heard that she wanted it. For the US release there was a remix that was recorded featuring Ludacris.

The single did really well around the world and went into the top 5 in many countries including Canada (1), France (2), Hungary (2), Slovakia (3), Switzerland (1) and the US Billboard (1). In the United Kingdom it went to number 1 in the charts, selling over 600,000 copies and also went certified platinum.

I always like this song and it was one of those tracks that got stuck in your head when you heard it.
