Every day this month we are taking a look at a different rom com everyday to celebrate that it is a leap year in 2024 and valentines day also being in the same month.
Day 23 – How To Lose Friends And Alienate People
When I first saw this advertised as a trailer I knew that I wanted to see this film as it looked fun and an interesting concept. The first time I ever saw it was actually on a DVD in Newcastle when I had no internet and needed entertainment for the evening.
Here is the synopsis:
A British writer struggles to fit in at a high-profile magazine in New York City.
Imdb
I think that this is one of my favourite Simon Pegg films as it is very funny. Also I wonder whether I work in the media I can also relate to this as definitely seen similar situations. I think it’s a fun look at the world of journalism mixed into a rom com at the same time. Also being a British film there are a lot of camels throughout.
I think the weakest role is Megan Fox but you need her character for the lead to start to realise how shallow Hollywood is. It is also a character that allows you to really feel for the lead Kirsten Dunst.
I love this film and I can watch it over and over again. It is a very random concept just like a lot of Simon Pegg films are but it’s also a fun one.
