Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Good Time Locomotive

Tell us about:

Your latest single you have released:

This one is our darkest and heaviest material yet! It’s a whistle stop tour of all the things that bring out the worst in us and how we must strive in the darkest of times if we are to overcome our inner demons.

Your first single and how you felt when it was released:

That was called ‘Lines of Symmetry’ and it was stressful on the run up but a huge relief after all the preparation that went into it.

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

Well we release all our songs as singles but my personal favourite (although this is like being asked to pick between your children!) is our latest one, The Dark Within.

Your favourite song to play live:

Lines of Symmetry. It is such a satisfying way to open a show.

Your most emotional track:

Step into the light has a very big pull on me personally as I dedicated it to a family member I lost recently and is about pulling free of the darkest moment in my life.

The best lyric you have ever written:

‘Come back to me when you’ve learnt some manners!’ from A new beginning. It’s comical but the sort of thing my Mum might have said when I was throwing a tantrum!

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

There is nothing else like it! Or maybe I am doing the other thing wrong?

The hardest track to play live:

Devils & Angels is a bit choppy for me but I used to play in a drum n’bass metal band, so this stuff is pretty easy to be fair.

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

Instruments!

Describe your fans in three words:

Absolute leg ends (yeah that looks like 2 words but it is finnier that way)

A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:

Too many to pick one but at a push, Bohemian Rhapsody would be the obvious choice in terms of respect points I suppose. However, I think I will go for Let it be by The Beatles.

What we can look forward to from your band this year:

8 new songs and hopefully festival slots and a tour later on that year.
