INTERVIEW -A Quick Conversation with: Leaving Eden

Welcome the feature where we ask musicians or bands five really tough questions about music! Today I speak to the band Leaving Eden. They have recently signed with New England based USA record label Verdict and have also recently released the EP Reflections. Today we ask them some tough questions.

What is the hardest lyric you have ever had to write and why?

Hi, and it’s my pleasure to chat with you here. I am Eric Gynan, co-founder of the band Leaving Eden.  We are from The Boston Massachusetts area USA.  Leaving Eden & Silver Springs Fleetwood Mac Tribute is: (2 different bands with the same members)

Eve Lead vocals

Alyssa Bailey White Keys/Vocals

Jake Gynan Drums

Rich Chouinard Bass/Vocals

Eric Gynan Guitar/Vocals.

To answer your question, as I am a very spiritual person, there was a point where I felt forsaken. I believe life throws curve balls and you gotta write the good and the bad because it’s all part of life. In the song No Soul I wrote “If Heaven doesn’t want me I’m going to Hell, if you can’t see I have no soul to sell”.  I don’t feel that way now, but at some point I did.

What is the weirdest gift or compliment a fan has given you?

A special Gift was a set of black angel wings hand made from feathers given to Eve. A Compliment was a few Page long Thankyou to us for being who we were and how we helped him deal with life’s battles through listening to our songs and just knowing us in general. That’s big to us. It’s one of the reasons we do it.

Who is the best band or musician you have had the pleasure to share the stage with?

Leaving Eden has Toured The USA, UK & Canada sharing the stage with hundreds of the biggest national bands in the world including; Lacuna Coil, In This Moment, Black Sabbath (Heaven & Hell),Avenged Sevenfold, Seether, Hell Yeah, Trapt, Hinder,Sebastian Bach, SoulFly, Days of the New, NonPoint, DrowningPool, The Misfits, Lamb of god, Slayer, Stone Sour, Motorhead, HOOKERS & BLOW Featuring GUNS N’ ROSES, QUIET RIOT, W.A.S.P. Members, Steven Tyler, Ted
Nugent, Lita Ford, LA Guns, Trixter, Warrant, Apocalyptic Review (featuring members of Godsmack) Adelitas Way, Scott Stapp (The voice of Creed), Pop Evil, Ratt & many more, being able to share the stage, watching and learning as well as meeting so many cool people along the way.

That’s where it’s at!  I gotta say sharing the stage with Black Sabbath was the most fulfilling as I was turned on to them since I was a kid with Dio before he sadly passed. That was quite surreal. We will continue to be touring up and down the East Coast of the USA.

What one of your songs has been the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?

The Leaving Eden song What More was one of the hard ones for me because the guitar is doing this really cool riff while I’m singing a slower melody so the timing for both at the same time makes it very difficult to play live. We have played it though and it’s fun.

Dream Collaboration and why ?

Lindsey Buckingham Fleetwood Mac. The funny thing is I never really liked Fleetwood Mac. I used to like the heavy shit. I typically didn’t like stuff that was in the middle. But as a recording engineer I listen to all of the production and all of the songs so I’m not just sitting back and enjoying a good song,

I’m listening to all the instruments, the mix and the tone and as I listened I became so impressed with so much music that I had missed the first time around. I learned to appreciate Lindsey Buckingham. Especially his finger picking. I’d love to hang out and play some guitar with him and record some music, absolutely.
