Forgotten Songs! – This Week – The Launch

There are so many songs that are out there everywhere then all of a sudden they disappear and you only hear from them very rarely that they can create a sense of nostalgic for you, the listener. So roll up and welcome to Forgotten Songs where we celebrate these forgotten wonders.

The Launch – DJ Jean

Today we are heading back to the nineties to look at a dance song that you may not remember that was actually very catchy and may take you right back to a point in time.

The song The Launch was released by the Dutch musician DJ Jean in April of 1999. The song could be defined as Electronic, Trance and Hard House. It was produced by Klubbheads and DJ Jean and released under the record labels Mo’Bizz and AM:PM.

The song did well in the charts and went into the top 5 in many countries including Canada (4), Ireland (2), Netherlands (1), and the UK (2 in the singles chart and number 1 in the UK Dance chart). In the United Kingdom the song sold over 400,00 units meaning it became certified Gold.

I came across this single when I was researching songs to write about by looking at old compilation albums from the nineties and noughties. By the name, I thought that I had never heard this song but when I heard it I instantly recognised it and realised I have not listened to this track for a very long time. It wasn’t a song that I would listen to very often but I remember it being on radio or Top Of The Pops.
