It is the new year which only means one thing, it is time to celebrate acts that you should be keeping an eye on this year! Today we speak to the band Past The Fall who had a great 2023 and are set to take 2024 by storm.
Hello tell us all about your band?
We’re Past The fall, we play Epic Groove Metal with Grungy sleaze. We’re a 3 piece based out of Cambridge UK.
How was 2023 for your band – what were the highlights?
It’s been a great year, we’ve done less shows as we’ve been recording new music, but the shows we have done have been amazing, this year we played Hellfest and Bloodstock for the first time, as well as sold out hometown shows.
What was the key lesson you learnt from last year?
Well for sure that daily persistence is what really turns the wheel in any endeavour, we did a lot of shows to really restablish ourselves after the limbo that was covid, and that process helps reaveal the evolution and next stages of the band.
How did you get into music?
Me personally, I really fell hard for music when I Was about 11 years old, I think it was stuff like Nirvana, Pixies, Longpigs and a bit of Maiden that opened the door and from their I just devoured any guitar music I could get, getting heavier and heavier. Around the same sort of age I started playing guitar and the rest is history!
What are your plans for the band in 2024?
We’re releasing new music that we’re working on now and making a big push with that towards the new album with the promo campaign, its really exicting as its been a while now since the writing process of the debut album and its so cool to hear the evolutiopastn of us as musicians and the band.
What other bands and musicians are you looking forward to seeing perform this year?
Well I hope that Mastodon come around again soon, I haven’t seen them in years, probably pre Crack the Skye, so I haven’t seen them perform some of my favourite stuff yet!
What styles do you hope to see more of in music this year?
Well I guess for me I’d like to hear more of peoples personality rather than scene music, I think bands should take more risks as its always better to be yourself than play another album that sounds like on track from a sub-genre, there’s already plenty of that to go around.
What band is your ones to watch in 2024 and why?
Akkadian spring to mind as there from Cambridge also, there really tight with a powerful sound.
Do you have any new years resolutions? If so what are they?
Nah I never bother haha, making a resolution usually for me is a good way to start something on another day that’s not today- act now!
Are you on social media? If so how can people find out more about you?
We are! We’re on all the major platforms- just google ‘Past The fall’ and you can find us on whatever your poison of choice is.
