Tell us about:
Your latest single you have released:
‘Shadow Girl’ was such a fun one because it was really the first one we wrote! It’s really what started everything. We knew we wanted kind of a witchy, epic, 1970’s pre-prog like song… and as it was coming together we just kept adding sections and ear candy. We still use that same writing process today. There are all kinds of 1970’s easter eggs in there including backwards talking Latin, the wind was recorded from Ron Nevison’s front door, giant vocal breakdowns that don’t need to be there-it’s all kinds of fun.
Your first single and how you felt when it was released:
‘Breathe it In’ was the first one we released and it was AMAZING to finally get music out there. We had been writing, mixing, and editing…and really just refining our process for almost three years by that point. To get something out into the world felt like a massive accomplishment. At that point-we didn’t even care if people didn’t hear or like it…it was just nice to get it out there! It’s up to almost 28k streams now!
Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:
On the first album that’s releasing currently it’s probably ‘Shadow Girl’ for me. Just because it started everything. It really features everyone, there are so many sections and it just really brings home that cool occult thing that happened in the 1970s.
Your favourite song to play live:
We are working on these tracks and rearranging them to be played live! We are currently just in the process of finding fans and the team that appreciate this style of recording/music!
Your most emotional track:
Kaity: that’s gonna be a big toss up between ‘Naughty Little Girl’ and ‘Take me Back’ . ‘Naughty’ was all about dealing with sleazy agents when I was younger…’Take Me’ is about some intense suicidal idiations that I’ve dealt with my whole life. I try not to go too far into anything personal as I want these songs to be for everyone. WE as a band want these songs to be for everyone, but as far as emotional stuff goes…those would be the two!
The best lyric you have ever written:
Oh boy. You know…I’m never gonna say anything is THE BEST cuz there’s always room for improvement. But I’ll tell you what I laugh at literally every time it comes up…and it’s ‘I’ll stab you right straight in the eye with a knife named Peggy Sue’ Mmm. That always hits the spot.
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
I feel like I’m at home. I feel more at home on a stage than I do anywhere else. It’s where I most feel like myself.
The hardest track to play live:
To sing it’s going to be ‘Breathe it In’…it’s high…and it remains high the whole song. And as the melody line writer…I did it to myself hahahah.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
As a singer-I take a portable air purifier, a portable steamer, a Britta Filtered water bottle, and a portable humidifier. There’s just no way I can do a tour without those things!! Also having your own blanket and pillow is AWESOME.
Describe your fans in three words:
Authentic, Retro, Tongue in Cheek
A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:
The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. God the song is just perfect. So many amazing sections. It doesn’t follow the typical rock song-it does what it wants. The harmonies are amazing, there is so much emotion in so few words. It’s just a great tune.
What we can look forward to from your band this year:
More covers, another album, live shows-everything hahaha! We’re workaholics so we’re doing it all!
