Ones To Watch 2024 – INTERVIEW – Lindsey Santoro

It is the new year which only means one thing, it is time to celebrate acts that you should be keeping an eye on this year! Today we speak to Lindsey Santoro, a stand up comedian who won the Next Up ‘Biggest Award in Comedy’ in 2023 as well as being nominated for the Best Newcomer Award for the Edinburgh Comedy Awards. Lindsey is planning to kick the new year off with a bang!

How was 2023 for you? What was the top 3 highlights for you?

I’ve had worse.  Being nominated for best newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, winning the Next Up ‘Biggest Award in Comedy’ for my show Pink Tinge at the Edinburgh Fringe, having a reviewer say that couldn’t understand my accent.

What was the key lesson you learnt from last year?

Don’t put metal in the microwave

What are your plans for 2024?

Get the guttering and roofing done on my house if I ever come into any money. I’m doing my award winning show Pink Tinge across 3 nights at Soho Theatre (25-27th January) and as part of Leicester Comedy Festival on the 15th February. I am hoping to bring it to other venues throughout the year too.

What other shows are you looking forward to watching this year?

Mark Nelson, Laura Smyth, Lloyd Griffith

What styles do you hope to see more of in comedy this year?

I co-host a monthly night called ‘Hare of the Dog’ at the Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath, Birmingham alongside Barbara Nice, Alice Rosenthal and Kate Glaze. We have been blessed with some brilliant unique acts every month and encourage everyone to come along and have fun. More of the same for this year please!

What comedian is your one to watch in 2024 and why?

Harriet Dyer and Louise Young as they are both very funny. I want to see them on stage and round my house for a cup of tea

Do you have any new year’s resolutions? If so what are they?

I’m going to learn to do a handstand this year. It’s been my resolution for the past 5 years, I suppose I should actually start trying to do it rather than just saying I will. I should also start wearing pants when I do it so I don’t scare the kids.

Are you on social media? If so how can people find out more about you?
