The Travel Book – The Old Boatyard, Arbroath, Scotland

When you visit a new location one of the most important things is to find somewhere to eat that has fresh produce, reasonably priced and celebrates the local areas food. Today we are heading to the east coast of Scotland where we found a restaurant that is a great place to eat and in a great location.

The Old Boatyard Restaurant is located in the Fishmarket Quay in Arbroath. It is about a 15 minute walk from the train station and if you are driving there is a car park situated outside. This restaurant is in the centre of the action and is right at the harbour so you get a great view of the sea and the boats!

The restaurant celebrates the local seafood but do not fear, there is much on offer for those who do not eat fish. Arbroath is famous for the Smokie and if you want to try them then this is a fantastic location to give them a try.

The restaurant is family owned and is home to some really delicious dishes including fish and chips, slow braised pork belly, sandwiches, salads and so much more.

I have visited this place many times since the first time and everytime I am blown away by just how good the food is and how friendly the staff are,
