Welcome the feature where we ask musicians or bands five really tough questions about music! Today we speak to the band Past The Fall whose music you can check out by clicking here. Today they answer some tough questions about music.
What is the hardest lyric you have ever had to write and why?
Probably the lyrics to ‘Epitaph’ our 3rd track on the album ‘From Insanity’s Ruin’. It initially had completely different lyrics to it in the very early days of the production of the album. I just couldn’t resonate with them, they felt generic and I think a lot of those types of metal lyrics can be used to hide ones real emotions behind like a protective mask, and that translated to the passion for the performance not being there. So we ripped up the rule book and I just went to the jugular on our experience of being used as a cash cow to prop up bad bands on a difficult tour we had just come off, how it really is a broken system and exploits naivety and peoples dreams.
What is the weirdest gift or compliment a fan has given you?
We haven’t had anything too weird to be honest! Probably the most out there has been fun stuff, some h*** cookies baked into the bands logo!
Who is the best band or musician you have had the pleasure to share the stage with?
Probably Hirax, I remember at the time they really impressed me with there professionalism and ability to go out there and crank it every night whatever the circumstances before the show were/if there was any issues on stage. Class act.
What one of your songs has been the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?
From a technical standpoint none of them really, but perhaps from an emotional aspect maybe ‘Seldom Reason’ -its really stripped back and has a lot of clean vocals so it feels very exposed.
Dream Collaboration and why ?
Probably Mastodon! I really think we could do something awesome with multiple vocals and I really relate to the soundscapes and emotions they paint with the music.
