Welcome to the feature where we ask musicians or bands five really tough questions about music! Today we speak to the band Sounds and Scenarios, who have recently released the track “Trouble Will Follow!” The single is about realizing a person you like is not a good person to be around.
What is the hardest lyric you have ever had to write and why?
Tyler: I think the hardest to write for me was probably for a song called “Reminisce,” which was a cut from our EP Maybe Someday We’ll Bloom. It was a song I wrote after I went through a bad breakup, where I was the one to break it off, and it was me acknowledging that I was the one who caused the pain and that the person couldn’t count on me anymore. The breakup was definitely for the better, but it doesn’t change that it still hurt the both of us. The one that got me was “I’ll keep making mistakes, like I always do.”
What is the weirdest gift or compliment a fan has given you?
We have yet to get any weird gifts or anything, but we’ve seen a lot of weird Spotify playlist names that we’re a part of. The one that takes the cake is a playlist called Saturn Devouring His Son, and the playlist cover was the painting of the same name. We did some digging and they had all sorts of playlists with that same vibe: a morbid painting as the cover and the name of it as the title. We still have questions.
Who is the best band or musician you have had the pleasure to share the stage with?
We got to open for Assuming We Survive back in 2019. Straight up the nicest dudes, it was an honor to be able to play with them.
What one of your songs has been the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?
For a while, it was one of our old songs “Technicolor” from our first EP. The timing always just feels weird when we play it. Nowadays, we’d probably say the new single “Trouble Will Follow;” we didn’t really rehearse it before playing it live, so we were just kind of trying to put the pieces together. So far, it’s worked out in our favor though.
Dream Collaboration and why?
We’re torn between Danny Elfman and Caleb Shomo from Beartooth. Kind of complete opposites for sure, but it just makes sense in our heads. The former is because he’s just such a genius and his orchestration would really add a new element to our sound, and the latter is just cause Beartooth’s sick and Caleb’s screams would sound nuts in our stuff. Or at least we think so, anyway.
