Boys and Girls – Pixie Lott

There was a time when Pixie Lott dominated the charts, due to the fact she had some really catchy song. Today we look at a track that was used a lot in the late noughties as it was really catchy.

Boys and Girls was released on the 5th September 2009. It was written by Mads Hauge, Phil Thornalley and Pixie Lott and it was released under the record label of Mercury. It was the second song to be released off of her debut album that was called Turn It Up which was also released the same year.

The concept of the song is based around the idea of having fun with people at a party. The track has been used as a soundtrack in a couple of films including Fred: The Movie, Horrid Henry: The Movie and an Indonesian drink commercial for Mizone.

The song did well in the charts and went into the top 10 in Belgium (3), Ireland (4), Scotland (5) and the UK (1). In the United Kingdom, the single went certified silver selling 200,000 copies.

The song was everywhere when it was released, it had a catchy chorus and sort of defined what the pop sound was like in 2009.
