Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Michaela Betts

Tell us about:

Your latest single you have released:

The Rose (Darker) is a biographical Dark Disney, cinematic folk song with ethereal  vocals, storytelling, orchestration and distorted bass. It’s a dark fairytale about the  loss of innocence and the seed and source of my narrative concert and live album  DARK NATURE.

The animated music video was a collaboration with dancer / choreographer Chrissy  Brooke (currently starring alongside Mark Rylance in Dr Semmelweis) and Australian  digital creator Hilary Campilan. The video combines real human creativity and  performance with ai tools including Warpfusion, EbSynth and Topaz.

Your first single and how you felt when it was released:

I’ve been writing since I was 13, and one of my songs Now You’re Here was  released as a single in Belgium by Micha Marah. It was an exciting but strange experience to have someone else sing my song in a foreign language!

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

I have released an EP Ripe Fruit (my first live solo album dropped on the 22nd August!). My  favourite “album” track thus far is Requiem.
