The Travel Book – Travel Through A Photo – Madrid, Spain

There is always a story behind a photograph and I thought it would be a fun way to look at the world of travel. So, welcome to a new feature that will appear regularly this year in the travel section. Today we are going to kick things off by looking at one of my favourite photos.

Hot, boiling weather – that is the one prominent thing that comes to mind when I think of the time I visited Madrid in 2016 in late August. It made it very hard to go exploring as the heat was very tiring and difficult to fight against. However we were there for a short time and spent it doing as much as we could in the morning as the afternoon was too hot.

The one thing that I really remember about Madrid is that they have some really impressive parks and in these they have some really interesting buildings. One of them that really stood out to me was Crystal Palace in Retro Park.

Inside this wonderful glass building there was a structure of some sort of ship melting into the ground. It was incredibly impressive and took a wonderful photograph.

I adore this image even though I took it in full colour, it is muted due to the glass house and the structure being a light green / grey. This colour highlights the bold blue and the green that is outside the window.

I love the slant of the boat and the height of it – this makes it so dramatic and just create a this really interesting photograph.
