Ballet and juggling, not something that you would imagine go hand in hand or even work together but Insomniacs Fable does just that, it combines these two art forms into something unique and different.
This duo from Finland take you on a journey through dance that combines the two whilst also creating emotion with the set that changes around them. It is very what I would call ‘artistic’ a lot of the time I was watching, I found the narrative difficult to follow but from reading the booklet I know that it was about a relationship and some of the sequences, it becomes obvious to understand just because of the emotion expressed and the way juggling equipment is used dominantly.
Whilst the set and props were used throughout in a poetic way at times I found it was hard to understand what the images or the white sheet represented.
I would say if you want to go to a show that is more of an ‘experience’ then this is the show for you. It is the sort of show I would not be surprised if it was in an art gallery as it has elements of something like this
If you want to go to a show where you can delve into the world of the unusual then this is a show that you will enjoy. If you are not a fan of slow burn with a narrative that is not clear to follow then this is not the show for you. The talent are incredibly talented and worth praise for that alone.
