Hello! Tell us about yourself ?

Hello! We are Hot Car Vodka, an artist collective from London who are debuting our new show An Evening With Gene Montague at the Rosemary Branch theatre this August. This show is a collaboration between alternative comedians Lewis King & Robert Thomas and theatre makers Natalia Lewis & Woody Franklyn.

How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the Camden fringe?

We wanted the title to feel grounded but also intriguing. We want our audience to question whether Gene Montague is actually an actor. Maybe he is? Maybe he isn’t?

Tell us a little bit about your style of show?

This is a comedic play which is a little bit surreal and a little bit silly.

What will your set be about?

Our play is about a Q&A, between an unassuming actor and a theatre critic who seems to be hiding a dark secret.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

We loved chatting to everyone at the Camden Fringe launch party the other week and it was lovely to see such a variety of shows at the festival this year. It’s always exciting to see what other people have been working on and I’m sure all of us will be flicking through the flyers we picked up at the launch party!

Have you done the fringe before? What have been some of your favourite shows to date and why?

We haven’t taken part in the Camden Fringe before but we’re all very excited to be part of the community this year.

What advice would you give to others who want to perform at Camden Fringe next year?

Never underestimate the power of a good-looking poster. Also – collaboration is key!

What is the best thing about performing at the Camden fringe?

The opportunity to feel like our show is part of a wider artistic community. Everyone involved with the Camden Fringe have been nothing but supportive and we hope we can repay that by supporting other shows at the festival.

London can be an expensive place to perform in – what key advice would you give to performers that is a sort of life hack?

We’re very lucky to be friends with such talented people who want to work with us. This show could not exist without the incredibly generous hard work from our videographer and editor Henry Wright, our technician Tomas Brown, and our sound designer Joe Dines.

What are your three favourite things about Camden?

The Canal, the graffiti, the neon pants in Cyberdog.

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

Whoever is reading this right now. Or Sir Ian McKellan.

The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this years pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?

Steven. Because the pigeon looks like a Steven.

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

For more information, find us on the Camden Fringe website or follow us on Instagram @hotcarvodka.

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

You’ll love Gene.
