Hello! Tell us about yourself?
My name is Holly Delefortire I am an interactive solo artist, comedian and theatre maker. I create off-the-wall interactive comedy and participatory theatre shows that take audiences into the world of my show. I am a practitioner with Told by an Idiot theatre company so know how to be the idiot in the room. My shows look to explore the messier side of human nature, cock-up’s, vulnerability and all.
How did you come up with the name of the show that you’re taking to the Camden fringe?
The showwas originally called ‘Pre-Cum’ as it is about everything on the way to climax, but it fell foul of digital censorship bots and ended up in the Spam folders; also pre-cum seems to lean more towards the traditionally male experience, whereas this show is all about female pleasure.
Tell us a little bit about your style of show.
Sex-Ed Revisited is set in the fictional world of The Oh,Oh,Oh The Orgasum support group. The show combines a mixture of Stand-up comedy, confession storytelling and live interactive games. The show also has Kylie Minogue Sing-along and interactive games.
What will your set be about?
All the main missing gaps in Sex-Education in knowledge when it comes to female-focused sex education. As well as memories of traumatic experiences cucumbers, condoms and colliderscopic beer googles. The show is a theatrical quest for climax to explore all the things that get in the way of pleasurable sex. From misguided but well-meaning advice to times when you found out the hard way.
But most of all when all the sex I have is for pleasure (most of the time), why are we only taught biology and reproduction?
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
That’s not my name by Sammy (Covered in Jam) – She is empowering, vulnerable and comedic show.
The Really Uselss Group at Bill Murry – Because their songs are hilarious and I still don’t know where eels come from.
Have you done the fringe before? What have been some of your favourite shows to date and why?
Yes, the last time I was at Camden Fringe was in 2019 with my first one-woman show An interactive clowning show- ‘I’ll be your baby tonight..?’ which was my attempt to date an entire audience in one night. That year I also performed YOU a multi-media theatre show about the social expectations of women approaching 30.
What advice would you give to others who want to perform at Camden Fringe next year?
Reach out to other artists, it is a great chance to meet other creatives.
What is the best thing about performing at the Camden fringe?
The Venues, having performed at The Etcetera, Camden People’s Theatre, The Cockpit and The Rosemary Branch, I have always found supportive welcoming teams able to help you out.
London can be an expensive place to perform in – what key advice would you give to performers that is a sort of life hack?
Cross-market, connect with artists and venues you relate to. Build meaningful relationships. A lot of advice and resources can still be accessed even if you do have a big budget.
What are your three favourite things about Camden?
The Dev, the best Metal Bar in town
Cecil Sharp – The home of folk music and Morris Dancing
Hampstead Swimming Ponds – because it feels like a different world to Camden Town
What Favourite one-liner you have done in a show and why?
(When ripping off a fake moustache) Great two removed for the pain of one!
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
Kylie Minogue would love to have her come into my world.
The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this year’s pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?
Peckish
