Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Airports

Tell us about:

Your latest single you have released:

“NEED U HERE” – its basically an emo heartbreak song where I mixed Drum N Bass and Pop Punk together.

Your first single and how you felt when it was released:

Well AIRPORTS started as a band a long time ago, we made a song  called “Stellar”. My singing wasn’t great but it was a vibe and we filmed the video on an airport runway – go figure!

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

“C-PTSD” which stands for ‘Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder’. I was going for a classic pop punk acoustic album cut. The song’s about overcoming childhood trauma and also adult trauma.

Your favourite song to play live:

“Second 2 Breathe”, it’s super high energy!!!

The song that was the longest to write and why?

“I actually have a song that wasn’t long to write but I did write and make it in like 2015/2016 and I still haven’t released it because I want to give it the right platform. Thankfully it still hasn’t gone out of date!

Your most emotional track:

“MUM (Living Proof)” which I wrote for my mum when she passed in 2019. I think anyone who lost a parent could really feel that one.

The best lyric you have ever written:

Hardest question yet!! Ahhhh.. “So keep on losing hope, then go find some more, if life was all beautiful, we wouldn’t grow no more” from “Don’t Sleep Anymore” (2020).

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

A dopamine rush of excitement, fear and bravado all at once.

The hardest track to play live:

I’ve got some new ones that have more screaming. I’m still learning to maintain my vocal health for that – for now the most screamy songs are “Need U Here” or “Second 2 Breathe”.

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

Laptop of course, Sure MV7 USB condenser mic for tracking vocals on the go.

Describe your fans in three words:

C*** with taste.

A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:

Everything’s Magic by Angels & Airwaves

What we can look forward to from your band this year:

Perhaps an exciting exploration into genre fluidity..
