Hello! Tell us about yourself?
Hi! I’m Larisa, I’m a Luxembourgish-Romanian writer/director and performer, trained at Drama Centre London. I devise and self-produce my own shows. My work has been staged in the UK, Luxembourg, Lithuania and Germany. I love making political shows with a musical twist and a side of odd humour.
How did you come up with the name of your show that you’re taking to the Fringe?
This show is about reclaiming the body: I wanted to go back to basics, to make it stark, to use nudity as an empowering and subversive storytelling tool. I loved the expression, stark bollock naked, but the show is about ovaries, not bollocks, so crossed them out (The strikethrough is a design pain though, wouldn’t recommend. Bollocks to that.).
Tell us all about your show!
stark bollock naked is a multimedia tragicomedy about reproductive shelf life, the pressure of the biological clock and abortion stigma. Featuring intricate video mapping on the body and a live score of gyno instruments (looking at you, speculum, metal foe). It’s a candid, deeply personal and heartfelt show about what (not) to do with your (ageing) ovaries. The show is also part of the first ever Luxembourgish selection at the Fringe!
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the Fringe?
Julia Masli’s new show, Liv Ello & Frankie Thompson: Body Show, Awkward Productions’ 2 shows (their IG & Twitter content is next level) and Ontroerend Goed’s three shows.
What have been some of your favourite shows to date and why?
RashDash’s Three Sisters, Rosa Garland’s Trash Salad, Julia Masli’s Choosh! and Eloina’s High Stakes. They’re all highly innovative, brilliantly performed and incredibly engaging. I left on a high, inspired.
Favourite one liner you have done in a show and why?
Cluck. (I’ve played a chicken twice – don’t ask – and nothing has topped an expertly placed “Cluck”)
What have been some of the most unique and different comedy shows you have seen this year and why?
Trash Salad. Never seen anything like it – just wild. Incredible performer, mind-blowingly creative. Trash Salad will also be at the Fringe, so get booking.
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
Someone who brings ALL their friends, frenemies & (adult) family members.
If people want to find out more about you, where can they follow you on social media?
@larisa.faber on IG
@LarisaFaber on Twitter
And finally, in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
TAMPON POMPOMS & SPECULUM (we play them).
