Hello! Tell us about yourself?
Cho Yeeun: Hi, we are Trunk Theatre Project from South Korea.
How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the fringe?
Kim Min: We wanted to make it very iconic. We thought about how the fish would sound like when we listen from outside their fish tanks. No matter how loud they shout out we would only hear Blub Blub.
Tell us all about your show!
Featuring newly composed songs inspired by Camille Saint-Saëns’ The Carnival of the Animals, Blub Blub is a charming story of chaotic cohabitation as two fish find each other in an aquarium, both wanting to escape, but with conflicting views of how. Blending physical theatre, miniature set design and puppetry, along with a mysterious live score.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
Kim Min: It would be really nice if we can interact with actors around the world, and visit every alley as possible to take a peek in their artistic journey.
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
Cho Yeeun: We performed in 2022, so this is our second Fringe. I Would like to suggest newbiesto bring hoodiesand long pants since it’s quite chilly. And enjoy as much as you can!
Favourite one liner you have done in a show and why?
Hoping for a better tomorrowis one of the most powerful motivations for us to live on. So lets give it a try everyone!
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
Hyon Chaeah: Having a nice, warm breakfast with teammates would be the first thing to do. After that, since our show contains lot of physical movements, we’d need to take some time to warm up our bodies and stretch. Making sure we are ready for the show! After doing our show, we will enjoy the fringe!
What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?
Cho Yeeun: Drinking beer at the Royal Dick after the show and communicating with fellow artists and the audience.
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
Kim Min: Diversity in unity! So many artists around the world gather in this small town to perform and present their piece. Different cultures, background, and methods make the festival so enriching! We learn from others, find value in things we could not acknowledge before but all of this is possible is because we are in love with art!
The most challenging thing about performing at the fringe?
Hyon Chaeah: First challenge is to perform our show in English which is not our first language. Another is filling the auditorium with audiences, since there are so many great other shows!
Kim Min: We have to be very punctual. Limited rehearsal time slots, and on-going shows make it tiring for the performers at the end of the season. So keeping in track of time is the first but the least we can do.
What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?
Cho Yeeun: Warm clothes, Emergency medication, Flyers.
What’s the secret to successful flyering?
Cho Yeeun: Bring them everywhere, even the toilet and hand them if your hands are free and clean.
