Don’t Hold Your Breath – Nicole Scherzinger
Today we are going to look at a single that was released by one of the Pussycat Dolls when they started to delve into new ventures away from the group. This weeks track was released by Nicole Scherzinger and whilst it was a popular song you may of forgotten about it like I did until it popped up on a playlist the other day.
The track Don’t Hold Your Breath was released on the 10th March 2011 is taken from Nicole’s debut album called Killer Love which was also released in the same year. When you read into the track, there is a lot of interesting things that happened in the songs development with the main one being that it was originally a demo track by Timbaland and Keri Hilson. The track was written by Josh Alexander, Billy Steinberg and Toby Gad.
The song did really well in the charts and it went into the top 5 in Belgium (2), Ireland (4), the US Dance Club Songs (2) and The UK (1). In the UK it also went Platinum certified and sold over 621,000 copies.
It is one of those songs that is really catchy and has a chorus that when you hear it, you cannot let it escape your mind. You can understand why there is a version with Timbaland and Keri Hilson as it has a very similar style to the tracks they were releasing at the time as well.
