Forgotten Songs! – This Week – Pretty Green Eyes

There are so many songs that are out there everywhere then all of a sudden they disappear and you only hear from them very rarely that they can create a sense of nostalgic for you, the listener. So roll up and welcome to Forgotten Songs where we celebrate these forgotten wonders.

Pretty Green Eyes – Ultrabeat

Today we look at a song that you may not remember the name however if you heard the song you may actually remember it as the track was around a lot in the early noughties. Today’s track is a dance track that is uplifting and also dramatic.

Pretty Green Eyes was released by the group Force & Styles on the 24th February 1997. The track did not gain height of popularity until it was covered by the dance group Ultrabeat in 2003. The song was written by Paul Hobbs, Darren Mew and Leon Van Brown. The original version of the track was classed as ‘happy hardcore’ dance music and was pretty raw and reflective of the nineties dance scene. The Ultrabeat version altered this track so that it was more of a pop style of song.

The Ultrabeat version did well in the charts and went into the top 10 in Belgium (6), Ireland (7), and the UK singles (2). The song also went certified platinum in the United Kingdom and sold 600,000 copies.

I completely forgot that this song existed until I heard it the other day and then remembered it instantly as it was a very big dance track when I was growing up. The chorus was catchy and it really stood out and was very easy to remember.
