Taste Of States – This Week – Red Velvet M&Ms

Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.

RED VELVET M&Ms

It’s been a while since we spoke about M+Ms on this feature, so I thought that it was time to return to them. This week we are going to talk about a flavour that is a really popular cake in the United States.

M&M Red Velvets were released in approximately 2014 for Valentines Day and one thing I learnt whilst reading about M&Ms is that they change the colours of the sweets to romantic colours at this time of year. The colours of these particular sweets were red, pink and white.

The chocolate could be purchased for $2.88 for a 9.90 oz bag from Walmart. The candy is milk chocolate and is meant to taste like the elements of a Red Velvet cake.

The reviews online state that the tastes of this particular version of the sweet us disappointing and has a chemical taste.
