Hello! Tell us about yourself?
I’m Charlotte – even though I’m no longer a teenage girl (I’m in my thirties!) I’m still really into witchiness: candles, crystals, tarot, astrology, spells etc and in trying to figure out WHY??? I made a show for VAULT Festival..
How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the Vault?
One of my nicknames and the word witchy. It needs work.
Tell us a little bit about your style of show?
Séancey stand up silliness.
What will your set be about?
It’s about myth and red thread and swords and apples and tea-lights and school and witchiness and priests and cults and can a ritual we do right now save the planet?
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the festival?
Ooh: Hexenhammer – a clown show about witches!; and An Ice Thing To Say – a poetic piece about the climate crisis.
Have you done the Vault Festival before? What have been some of your favourite shows to date and why?
I’ve performed Carlotta de Galleon ~ A Fool for Love!, my show about romance novels, at VAULT before. I loved seeing Helen Duff’s Vanity Bites Back and Jo Nastari Ellis’ Fuck You Pay Me.
What advice would you give to others who want to perform at Vault next year?
Get a producer! And enjoy being part of such a kindly resourced and supportive festival. It’s such a joy.
What is the best thing about performing at the Vault Festival?
The community, the location, the vibe!
What are your three favourite things about London?
How open it is to becoming yours, to becoming familiar; the people; the bloody great comedy| Oh and so much witchiness…
Favourite one liner you have done in a show and why?
Oh no, I don’t think I have any one-liners!!! I mean I do! But the gags are context heavy – it’s all interwoven – you’ll have to come to the show and find out!
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
My husband. (I’ve yet to meet him.)
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
Follow me @charlottiegallagher or @charcharwitchy on Insta!
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
Join my cult.
