Taste Of States – This Week – Strawberry Pop Tarts Ice Cream Sandwich

Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.


Today we are going to look at a dessert that was available at a fast food restaurant where they released an item on their sweet menu for a limited time and was an excited addition for many fans. Carl’s Jnr is a chain that was founded in 1941 in Anaheim, California. The chain has now spread and is available in North and South America ( such as New York, Mexico, Costa Rica), Asia ( such as China and Malaysia) , Oceania (Australia) , Europe (such as Denmark, France and Spain) and Africa. They are known for making breakfast, burgers and much more.

In 2013, it was announced that the chain were going to release a brand new addition to their menu – Pop Tart Ice Cream Sandwich. The idea allows two slices of strawberry pop tart to be sandwiched together with vanilla ice cream in the middle. Customers could get one of these delicacies free if they purchased a Super Bacon Cheeseburger combo at certain locations.

The sandwich was originally tested in a small amount of locations and due to it’s popularity it unusually went viral online that it ended up being in the shops as it was in high demand.
