Forgotten Songs At Christmas! – This Week -Silver Bells

There are so many songs that are out there everywhere then all of a sudden they disappear and you only hear from them very rarely that they can create a sense of nostalgic for you, the listener. So roll up and welcome to Forgotten Songs where we celebrate these forgotten wonders.


Silver Bells Aled Jones and Sir Terry Wogan

Everyone enjoys a cover version of a single, and Christmas is the time when they become an incredibly popular trend, Well today we look at a song that was release as a cover of the 1950s hit of Silver Bells. The original track was written by Jay Livingstone and Ray Evans and was first sung by William Frawley.

In 2009, singer Aled Jones teamed up with Terry Wogan to release the track to raise money for charity. Aled Jones had not released a single for 24 years and Terry Wogan had not been in the chance sits the 1978 hit The Floral Dance. It was produced by Jon Kelly and Wix and the song was taken off the album Aled’s Chrsitmas Gift

This was also the first time that the track Silver Bells had ever actually charted in the United Kingdom. The song went to number 27 in the top 40. It was in the charts for three weeks.
