This month we are taking a look at a completely different angle at the subject of food in the USA. Food isn’t something you can just eat, it is also something you can now wear, use or even have it as a scent. One of the most crazy things I think I have seen myself was when I was in Chicago airport, and there was Bacon flavored toothpaste. Since that day in 2011 I’ve been fascinated with what else is out there. I thought it would be fun to spend this December taking another look at clothing and accessories that are inspired by food brands and snack.
MCDONALDS WORKOUT DVDS
You do not usually expect to put McDonald’s and fitness in the same sentence but today we are going to be looking at something that the brand released in the mid noughties to try something different.
In 2006, it was announced that McDonald’s were releasing a series of workout DVDs, yes you read that correctly. They were part of a campaign by the company to promote keeping healthy and was called the GoActive! Campaign. However, the DVDs were only apparently available if you bought the Golden Arches premium salads and a drink, then you got them for free.
There was four DVDs that were released in total focussing on different styles of exercise cardio, yoga, strength and core work. Each of the workouts were presented by a digital character called Maya. The DVDs were15 minute works outs to aim keep you fit and healthy. There were different intensity levels and also warm ups for you to do as well.
The do not have these DVDs available anymore and were only around for a limited time.
