Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Levina

Tell Us about:

Your latest single you have released:

I wrote Battleground about my struggles with mental health. I didn’t speak about it a lot, because I felt like no one would understand me and I would be a burden to people. However, after I got regular therapy, through Help Musicians and BAPAM, I realised the importance of opening up, because there are other people who are going through similar situations. I am so grateful to be able to express my emotions through music and I want to raise awareness that struggles with mental health are not always visible. We need to make an effort to be kind to each other, because we never know what someone might be going through. I also want people to know that there’s always someone to talk to and someone who will listen, including services like Samaritans and Help Musicians, who have 24/7 helplines. And my DM’s are always open.

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

Currently it’s Battleground

Your favourite song to play live:

Danger and Apocalypse – everyone is vibing and jumping in the audience and I love it. The song that was the longest to write and why? Lows, because I started writing it with one producer and then finished it with another, so we took our time making it work with everyone involved.

Your most emotional track:

Battleground is definitely one of the most emotional tracks, followed by Only Truth.

The best lyric you have ever written:

I have a couple of favourite lines. “Everyday I’m fucking lonely, so I’d rather be alone” (Battleground). “If home is where the heart is, meet me outside” (Drowning), “Maybe our story starts when everything falls apart” (Apocalypse)

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

Excitement.

The hardest track to play live:

Made Up My Mind# Essential items you always take on tour with you? Vocal Steamer, Lemon & Ginger Tea, Honey, Lipbalm.

Describe your fans in three words:

Simply the best.

A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:

Amy Winehouse – Tears Dry On Their Own.

What we can look forward to from your band in 2023:

There will be more music and live shows to come, with the first single being released in the beginning of the year, so keep your eyes peeled and follow: https://linktr.ee/levinamusic.
