To celebrate the end of the year, I thought it would be interesting to spend the end of the year looking at back at some of the articles that I have written. One of my favourite topics this year is talking about improv in the media so over the next month we will looking at some of the highlights in this topic. To start of the month we are going to look at one that was written near the beginning of the year about the podcast – Welcome To Our Show
Name of Article: Improv Corner – Improv In The Media – Welcome To Our Show

If there is one thing that fascinates me about improv and that is how it is portrayed in Television and Film. This is becoming more and more apparent in recent years because the comedy art form is sort of in fashion. There are some interesting topics that we can gain from these ways they are displayed so every so often we are going to look at different scenes from different shows and films.
If you are looking for discussions about improv then podcasts are usually a great place to go as there is so much information on offer that it can be really insightful. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a lot of shows have popped up discussing television shows episode by episode in an in depth way, for fans to get to get a true insight into the behind the scenes. A show that was incredibly late to the party and only actually started the other month was New Girl.
Welcome To Our Show is hosted by Zooey, Hannah and Lamorne who played Jess, Cece and Winston in the show, in this podcast they discuss the ins and outs of each episode. I was listening to the show the other day and got to episode 3 about an episode called The Wedding. In this particular episode they had a really interesting discussion about improv that you should really check out.
The discussion starts when they start to talk about what sections of New Girl were improvised and naturally the conversation develops into a discussion about improv in television and film as a whole.
I won’t go into detail about it but it is a really good listen and gives such an insight into improv. As an improviser, I find it such an interesting perspective to have actors discuss the difficulties of improv as you don;t get to see it or hear about it very often.
I walked away from this episode with enjoyment as I learnt and also understood improv from a different perspective.
