Tell us about:
Your latest single you have released:
Alice was written by our singer Zach back when he was 16-years-old. He actually wrote it in line for the Alice in Wonderland ride at Disneyland. It was always one we liked, and we felt like releasing something that felt timeless and a little innocent was a perfect way to come back.
Your first single and how you felt when it was released:
Our first single was Stay Golden. It’s a song we wrote during a hot summer in Southern Oregon when we were missionaries. We called it “AU” at the time. Wrote it all on acoustic guitars because that’s all we had access to. Actually traded doing yard work for a guy in exchange for some studio time so we could record a demo. We put out the single and did not expect for it to be listened to to the extent it was. We’ll always love that song.
Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:
All of us love the song Miss Sunshine. In retrospect we probably should have released it as a single.
Your favourite song to play live:
Premonition is another one of our lesser known tracks that may be one of our favorites live, so we’ve kept it on the set. It’s so fun and also highlights a lot of what we think makes Roseburg great.
The song that was the longest to write and why?
Sunday is a song that was actually being written at the same time as all the songs on our debut EP, but didn’t come out until a couple years later. We even finished a recording of it for that EP but felt it wasn’t ready yet. It ended up coming out on our Righteous Punk album almost 2 years later!
Your most emotional track:
Noise is probably the most personal song of ours, lyrically.
The best lyric you have ever written:
This is too hard of a question, but whenever we think of a classic Roseburg line, the one that comes to mind first is “Trust that spirit you know so well, to lead you right, to lead you well.”
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
I think we all feel a little differently about this. Some of us love performing and it comes really naturally for us, but some of us still get really anxious about it to this day.
The hardest track to play live:
We have a new song coming out called See You Never that’s been really difficult for us to try to pull off live, we’ve been working hard on it in rehearsal.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
Roseburg does not go on tour without the Wii for Mario Kart. It simply doesn’t happen.
A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:
Amerika by Young the Giant has been a staple track of inspiration for Roseburg since we started the band.
What we can look forward to from your band in 2023:
The pandemic in 2020 cancelled our first ever national tour we had scheduled, so we would love to finally go on a proper tour. You can also expect lots of new music from us.
