If there is one thing I have learnt over the years it is that if you put the name Harry Potter to anything, there is a good guarantee that the tourists will come. However, these places usually have so much more to them that actually it is a shame that sometimes that gets overshadowed. Today we are going to look at one of those areas where people go to visit to experience the location of Quidditch – welcome to the world of Alnwick!

Alnwick is located in Northumbria, it is a market town that is close to towns such as Berwick-upon-Tweed and Alnmouth. It is a very old town that has history dating back to 600AD. It is famously known for Alnwick Castle which is where the most powerful family of the medieval times lived – The Earls of Northumberland.
The town is welcomed with many tourists because a handful of the Harry Potter films were filmed in the castle and you can vividly see some of the grounds as part of the Quidditch sections.
I visited Alnwick but not for the Harry Potter experience but to have a look around the town. I remember I went walking a lot around the area to explore it as there was lots of interesting things to see. I think the thing that stood out to me the most was the high street as it was really pretty, it was full of lots of lovely quaint shops and some really interesting historical building styles including an arch you have to walk under.
If you want a grand day out that can also turn into something magic if you want it to, then check Alnwick out!
