Gee That’s Good Month – INTERVIEW – 1920’s Marshmallow

In September we are celebrating the world of books! We have a very special interview with Beth Grylls, a journalist who has recently started to delve into the world of book reviews. She has recently started the social media branding of Gee That Is Good where she talks in depth about stories that she has been reading. All this month we are finding out about what it takes to be a reviewer, favourite books and much much more. Today, in true Phoenix tradition it is quick fire round!

If you could have any three people (dead or alive) over for dinner – who would they be?

I feel like I should probably have a more profound answer to this, but right now the names that come to mind are: Jennifer Lawrence (because she’s hilarious), Sarah Pinborough (because I love her books, she seems like a cool person on Twitter, and I want to try and I want more answers about her book The Death House) and Stephen Hawking (because I love space and anything to do with how time works).

What’s the best piece advice you’ve received?

It was strictly advice, but when I asked a friend of mine if she worried about not knowing what would happen, she said “I don’t know what’s around the corner, but isn’t that what’s most exciting?”

Do you have any pets?

I have a very large cat called Marshmallow – he’s the best!

If you could be from any other decade (or era), which would it be??

I think it would have to be the 1920s. There’s something very glamorous about it – whether or not it would be is another thing. I think I just like the dresses!

What’s on your music playlists right now?

It depends which playlist you’re asking about! But on my liked songs currently you’ll find Wait a Minute by Willow; KMB by Nova Twins; anything Wolf Alice; Hi-Fidelity by Lava La Rue/Biig Piig; Remember Where You Are by Jessie Ware.

Who would play you in the movie of your life?

Zoe Kazan

If you had one superpower, what would it be?

I’d be able to teleport – imagine the places you could visit. I’d also never be late again! …I probably would, but maybe not by as much.
