Taste Of States – This Week – McLobster Roll

Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.

MCLOBSTER ROLLS

The one thing that I find really interesting about America is that some fast food chains create specialised menu items specifically aimed at that particular state and its delicacies. Today we are going to look at an item that was added to the McDonalds menu in the state of New Hampshire.

In 2015, McDonalds released a Lobster Roll to their menu for those in the state of New Hampshire to compete with the local companies that also create this local delicacy. The Lobster Roll was a temporary addition to the menu and was apparently only available for two weeks as a promotional device. The name of the fast food version is known as the McLobster.

The roll follows the same trend as a normal Lobster roll and contains Lobster meat (apparently defrosted ) and then mixed with mayonnaise. To finish off the delight it is then filled with shredded lettuce in a roll and apparently a tiny bot of extra meat placed on top. It could be purchased for $9.

The item must of had a following because it returned for a limited time again in 2017.
