Please Don’t Go – KWS

There are so many bands that do covers of famous tracks that I thought it would be fun to look at a one of them. Today’s cover takes us to the early nineties and was a cover of a song by KC and the Sunshine band.

KWS was a British dance act from Nottingham that consisted of producers Chris King, Winston Williams and vocalist Delroy St Joseph. On the 27th April 1992 they released a cover version of the track Please Don’t Go. It was a dance house version and was released under the record label of Network Records. The track was a double A side with the single Game Boy.

The single was actually the debut track for the band and it went straight into number 1 in the UK charts and stayed there for a whopping five weeks. The track was dedicated to the Nottingham Forest defender Des Walker as he was on the verge of signing to the Italian team Sampdoria.

The track did well in other countries as well and went into the top 10 in Australia (2), Canada (2) Greece (2), Ireland (3) and Sweden (8) to name a few.
